Plans.

After a long week and a few days of travel, the 2012 St. Thomas team has all dispersed to continue on to their normal lives. This time last week the Bible Boot Camp was well underway and the team had started to feel a minor, but still present, fatigue as late nights and early mornings became the norm.

For the team and kids Bible Boot Camp has become a memory... But the work God did that week is continuing...

This year we had over 90 kids attend Bible Boot Camp and 12 decided to become followers of Christ!

After spending a couple years establishing the Bible Boot Camp program, Humbly I Serve is excited to seek other ways to help serve Grace Baptist Church and the island of St. Thomas.

"Humbly I Serve is not about a week program," Founder and President of HIS Ministries, Melinda Wilson said. "Humbly I Serve Ministries is about creating ongoing and genuine relationships with the goals to inspire and create a sustainable change within a community. HIS Ministries is thrilled to be at a place where we can serve Grace Baptist in other ways, now that the Bible Boot Camp has been fully established."

While HIS Ministries was in St. Thomas, meetings were conducted and more needs were seen. HIS Ministries is will be announcing another amazing way the Lord has provided for us to serve in St. Thomas, soon!

Thank you for your prayers during this trip! We appreciate your prayers as the Lord continues to lead Humbly I Serve.

Four Weeks!

Only four weeks remain until Humbly I Serve’s trip to Saint Thomas. As the preparation is underway, our burden for the children in St. Thomas weighs heavier among us, but we are excited to anticipate how God will work through us. Our prayer and hope is to take every opportunity to share the love of Christ with these children.

The children in St. Thomas struggle to find individual worth and value. These children are in life, all the while lost trying to find their purpose within a culture that believes items and materialism matter and create significance. As these children learn that items predict who they are and what they will become, they slowly lose grasp of anything eternal.

Humbly I Serve’s prayer for this trip is to break through the culture’s idea of value. We hope to shatter the mindset they are so frequently forced to accept through the love of Christ. We strive to show these children that nothing on this earth matters apart from Jesus Christ through our Bible Boot Camp program.

Much like Vacation Bible School, the Bible Boot Camp is designed to engage kids through stories, crafts, and activities while sharing the message of the gospel. Through our teaching and actions we hope to show these children the value the Lord has for them, no matter what their stature is in society.
We are still in need of some last minute items for our trip in August:

1.      Craft Supplies: This can be anything! Glue, crayons, paper, coloring sheets, scissors, glitter, etc.
2.      Bibles: Our goal is to leave each child with a Bible once the Bible Boot Camp is complete. Any type of bible will suffice and be essential in eternally impacting a child’s life.

Our team also asks for prayers as we are in St. Thomas August 4-August 11. If you are interested in donating to Humbly I Serve Ministries, visit our website or please click here.
